New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a bail application filed by Rizwan Mohammad Ibrahim Kaskar, a nephew of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, in a 2019 case registered against him under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act for allegedly threatening a builder. A Bench led by Justice M R Shah, while dismissing the bail application, observed that the charges have not been framed in the matter and so bail cannot be granted at this stage. “We see no reason to enlarge the applicant on bail at this stage. If the investigation has been completed and the chargesheet has been filed against all the accused, we could have thought otherwise," the Bench said. The court also directed the trial court to frame the charges against the accused within six months. The Supreme Court said that once this is done, the accused can again approach this court for bail. Kaskar moved the apex court for bail, challenging the Bombay High Court's order which had dismissed his bail plea on December 31, 2021. UNI SM MR
